After 30 years away, I am moving back to my hometown, San Antonio, Texas. The movers are putting the contents of my studio and home in a truck right now, and the real estate folks are preparing to put my San Francisco place on the market in January.
I’m quite excited, really. San Antonio is an old city for North America, founded over 300 years ago, and has played a number of important roles in the history of the American West and the nation as a whole. It’s a city that can’t wait to celebrate something, full of color and music and food and life. It’s not the city where I grew up any more, just as San Francisco isn’t any more the place I moved to almost 24 years ago.
I’m especially excited to see what work I make in this new place. Wish me luck.
